Because narrative is the fundamental way that we explain the world and human nature, they’re a spark for conversation, for understanding, for change in perspective and belief, and a call for action. Through Maverick Independent Book Reviews (link here), we work with writers to review books through thoughtful, personal, and meaty essays that consider books and their places within a larger cultural, political, and historical conversation that shapes the global community—yes, even books meant almost entirely for “entertainment”!
Maverick reviews books published by independent presses as well as self-published authors. Like our sister business Catalyst Press, we believe that independent presses (and that includes self-published books) encourage, support, and express independent thought. We support it through thoughtful reviews of these books, published by all of those independent presses and author-publishers that we admire so much.
