Twelve-year-old Noah has more grief than he can bear in this unique coming-of-age story set in Texarkana, Texas in 1981. He’s lost his father and is caught in an accident that ends with the death of another young boy. Though he survives, he’s not without scars— including the amnesia that has him struggling with the accident he can’t remember and the boy he’ll never see again.
But Noah’s got a big job ahead of him. He’s the key witness to the subsequent court case, while still dealing with the anxieties and insecurities of pre-teen life. The case catapults him into a limelight that shines too brightly, its glare too intense, making him the center of attention for local girls who once ignored him and earning him acceptance from the kids who once bullied him.
But as the summer comes to a close, and town secrets begin to come to light, Noah’s got to figure what to do with all that grief.
